Chelan PUD's three collective teams have the most points for all the organizations represented so far!  Our individual team is also doing well.  Keep up the great work!

Is there a challenge for watching an environmental documentary?  I thought I saw one, but now I can't find it.

Did you know that Waste Management doesn't want you to put type 4-9 plastics in your recycle bin?  They only accept types 1, 2 or 3, and the other types are thrown out.

Hi Allison! It's true that the kinds of plastics they accept are becoming more limited. It's my understand that they highly prefer just 1 & 2, since 3-7 are difficult to sort and don't have strong and stable markets. They definitely don't accept #4 since plastic film gets wrapped up in their machinery. But the others are still recycled as long as they can be sorted. What doesn't get sorted goes to a waste-to-energy incinerator in Spokane, next door to the recycling center. Each area in NCW has a different contract with WM, so what is accepted depends on where you live, and we should try to stick with what those guidelines say, which is just 1s & 2s.
