Jan Meredith-Evans 5/19/2019 10:16 PMLast day for the 2019 Eco Challenge. I liked the new challenges this year. Finally incorporated my cloth veggie and fruit bags to get them to the grocery store. It's all about finding the right place to put them so they get to the store! See you all next year! -
Jan Meredith-Evans 5/18/2019 9:51 PMToday I put a small "to go" package in my car--a container for takeout meals, silverware, lightly used foil from the Community Meal dinner. Inspired by my daughter Chelsea!

Jan Meredith-Evans 5/17/2019 9:40 PMYes, that refined sugar elimination is probably the most difficult choice! One cannot even eat homemade jam....-
Jeanne Poirier 5/18/2019 7:59 PMMy grandpa - I'll never forget him repositioning his dentures so his one tooth showed, and he said it was his sweet tooth!! I tell Dr. Henkins to not ever mess with mine! :). Good on you - a super hard challenge!

Jan Meredith-Evans 5/14/2019 9:40 PMI like reading about what everyone's doing too! Today I bought a few things at a grocery store in Wenatchee for a snack for Chelsea and I needed to figure out what to put them in to take into her work. So in my car I had my container that my own sandwich was in earlier, so I put some chips in there, then added a portion of the sun dried tomato vegan cheese I had just bought (cut with my trusty 48 year old swiss army knife), in some lightly used aluminum foil I found in the glovebox and it was ready to take into her work. Kinda fun!-
Chelsea Evans 5/15/2019 8:51 PMThank you Mom for being so thoughtful about finding a reusable container for me! -
Jeanne Poirier 5/15/2019 6:49 PMI have really enjoyed reading everyone's post too and some fantastic photos shared!!

Jan Meredith-Evans 5/13/2019 8:46 PMLittle garden planted and all tucked in, along with the flower pots. Now, just surveying their progress in the wonderful early morning hours. The garlic is already about 3 feet high, giant rhubarb plant is about 6 feet in diameter. However, my asparagus apparently has died/disappeared. This was the year we could actually eat it, but only about 5 spears came up and flowered out immediately. (Last year we had about 40 spears that went to seed because it was only the second year.) I'm not giving up for next year though!-
Jeanne Poirier 5/13/2019 9:00 PMAsparagus is tough - my dad never got it. Keep trying and be persistent - what a payoff I hope for you in the next year or two!!

Chelsea Evans 5/13/2019 8:32 AMI am so proud of you for sticking with that project last fall, and that we got to follow up this spring! Go Wenatchee Naturalists!

Jan Meredith-Evans 5/09/2019 5:51 AMLooking forward to today's adventure to Ancient Lakes this AM. How many times do we get to say how marvelous is our state of Washington--desert, mountains, ocean, islands, rivers, and everything in between. We are the luckiest! -
Jan Meredith-Evans 5/07/2019 5:35 PMI volunteered again today at UVMEND's Das Thrift Haus. It's always so much fun and there are always new items coming in every hour it seems--unique, good deals, and usually a special find you didn't know you needed! If you've never been, try it out. Helpful, friendly staff, dressing rooms. There is so many items coming in everyday you almost need to go everyday. It's addicting!
