Shelley's actions
Nature
LEARN ABOUT NATIVE BEES
I will read about native bees and take an action to help them.
Food
SMART SEAFOOD CHOICES
I will visit seafoodwatch.org or download the app and commit to making better seafood choices for a healthier ocean.
Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will purchase produce and meat from a local farmers market or food co-op.
Water
Inspect, maintain and clean your septic system regularly
I will contact a septic system company to ask how I can keep my septic system healthy with non toxic products or schedule a cleaning.
Nature
Do Nature Activities
I will engage in nature-based activities with my kid(s) for 15 minute(s) each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to watching the buds develop, to reading a book with nature themes.)
Sustainable Community
ESTABLISH EMERGENCY KIT
I will establish an emergency kit and escape route in case of natural disaster like wild fire.
Simplicity
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Simplicity
Meditation
I will spend 5-10 minutes each day meditating, in prayer or reading inspirational literature.
Waste
Recycle Materials
I will recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community.
Food
COMPOST FOOD WASTE
I will set up a compost pile in my backyard where I can compost food scraps. I'll teach my family abou how to separate food scraps and place them in the compost pile.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 4 cups of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Waste
USE A REUSABLE MUG
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Nature
HIKE A LOCAL TRAIL
I will hike a local trail. (Consider joining one of Chelan Douglas Land Trust outings such as May 8 Sam Hill Walk for Families.)
Food
Plant a Herb Garden
I will plant an herb garden in my home, workplace, or dorm room.
Nature
CONSERVATION LOCALLY
I will search the webpage of The Nature Conservancy for 10 species they help protect, 10 natural preserves in Washington they steward and consider one way I could participate in their work in the Moses Coulee Preserves. (Hunter Steward Program, pigmy rabbit habitat repair, trail maintenance, fence repair)
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

Heather Rush 5/17/2019 7:37 AMI think the intention piece is key- not just going about things the way we always do. But stopping to think about our actions
